If your Xbox 360 is no longer covered under Microsoft’s extended two year warranty for the 3 red lights problem, you basically have two options for how to fix the red ring of death (the term used by Xbox gamers is to describe 3 red lights problem). The first option is to send your unit to a third party repair service for fixing. You can find these services on eBay. They will charge you between $40 and $50 and have a turnaround time of approximately 5 to 7 days. If you’re not a do-it-yourself type of person, this is an excellent choice. I have done this myself and I was very pleased with the results. The other option you have is to try to fix the problem yourself. In order to do this, you will need to download one of the 3 red light repair guides readily available on the Internet. The quality of these guides vary quite a bit, but most now come with videos that take you step-by-step through the repair process. This is a great addition as it allows you to actually watch the repair being made and pause the video as you follow along step-by-step.
