If at any time you are traveling to a country whose currency is not the dollar or the euro, I would suggest a global traveller card. The card is loaded with GBP sterling and the currency conversion is made at the time of spending rather than at the time of loading and you will still benefit from an excellent currency exchange rate. While I am a traveler and want to visit new and interesting places I am also not above finding a good deal when I do it. Whenever possible I use my frequent flyer miles to get to where I want to go and often have used bonus nights in hotels that I earned on business trips. On our last trip to Ireland I even downloaded a Mid Ireland Visitor’s Card from the tourist information ireland web site. It covered just about everything we wanted to do from our food to our accommodations and in some cases even got us discounts on our shopping.
