Every Board Should Have a Non-Executive Director

November 17th, 2009

To ensure the balance of power on a board, many different roles need to be filled.  Each member of the board is chosen because they offer a unique set of abilities that the company can benefit from.  One important position that is essential to the successful business is that of the non-executive director.  Because they are not executives they are not involved in the day to day running of the business, but that does not mean that their role is not important.  They instead assist with the governance of the board and with providing an outside view that may otherwise not have been a part of the decision making process.
