Social Media bulletin boards

Many people think about the new to the time a bulletin board you will realize that they indeed were social media sites. Am I wrong to say that they are. Back in the day you simply set up a bulletin board that people can dial into with a modem.   These days you can use a godaddy hosting account to get set up right away and get started immediately.  so when you used to have to set up your own computer in your home and get a modem and have a dedicated phone line and maybe have multiple modems and multiple phone lines that is not necessary anymore. board software better known as a discussion group.
