Exit doors do not only function as exit doors. Besides why would they label that certain door as an exit door if it has no difference from an entrance door? An exit door has a special device that works more than just being an exit pathway. A von duprin exit device is installed in every exit door to assure safety to all the passers of that door. This device is oftentimes a panic bar that controls panic responses from the people during emergency times. This panic bar is designed with the right estimation of people count that goes out that door. By doing so, the maker would know as to how much safety protection he should install in that panic bar.
