How fast does hair grow: What are the factors affecting growth

Ever wondered how fast does hair grow? Opinions differ commonly. The accepted rate for the present is approximately half an inch per month giving an annual increase of about 6 inches or 15 to 16 cms. Research done till now indicate that the growth rate is influenced by certain factors like health conditions. The implication being that a healthy person is likely to have his hair grow faster. People are now increasing their hair growth rates artificially by taking amino acid pills. It is believed that protein is a stimulator of hair growth. Therefore the attempt now is to add protein to the hairs by various means. One of the common ways is to wash the hair with protein rich shampoo.
