Footwear
December 27th, 2009
Footwear is a double edged sword. Footwear is the cause of many of the foot problems that Podiatrists and other foot specialists see on a daily basis. At the same time, footwear is used as a therapeutic modality to treat a wide range of foot problems. Getting footwear right can help; getting footwear wrong can hurt. Footwear that is too narrow can cause things like bunions; whereas footwear that is wide can help people with problems of the forefoot. Footwear that is too short can cause things like hammer toes. Footwear can be modified in many ways to accommodate various types of foot deformities.
