How To Create Your Modern Kitchen Design Ideas
October 18th, 2009
When you start creating your kitchen design ideas, the best way to get started is to decide where you want the three main elements of your kitchen – those being the cooker, the fridge and the sink. These three items create your “working triangle”, and ideally you should plan your kitchen so that there are unbroken lines between each of them.
The Cooking Zone
Only the cooking rings really need to be part of the working triangle; the oven or ovens and microwave may be built into a tall housing unit quite independently. An oven at eye level can be convenient for the busy cook glancing at what is cooking and it would also be safely out of the reach of young children.
Wherever the cooking rings are placed, it is both safer and more practical to have heat-resistant work surface either side. Another modern “must” is an extractor hood above the stove. The most efficient models remove smoke and steam through a pipe vented to the outside while alternatives recycle the air above the cooking zone through a renewable charcoal filler.
