Licensing prerequisites in many states

In the United States of America, enfranchisement is not compulsory for seminaries to grant theology Associate in Arts, Bachelor of Arts or Ph.D. A religious academic degree (AA, BA, MA, or Ph.D) is valid in America. Institutes providing purely spiritual degrees are free from from licensing prerequisites in many states, subject to specific regulations in each province.Some seminaries elect to acquire accreditation in order to be recognized to award degrees vs. spiritual degrees. There are several major accreditation agencies that particularize in orthodox spiritual schools. These are the Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools, the Association for Biblical Higher Education, the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, Theology Degrees and the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, and the American Board of Theological Institutions (ABTI).
