Patents Give Exclusive Rights to Inventors

March 5th, 2010

Many inventors have had their inventions literally stolen right out from under their noses.  Sometimes trusted associates have been known to sell out to competitors for the right price.  That is why inventors are so secretive about their work and apply for protection for their ideas under the patent laws.  A patent protects an invention for twenty years in which time no one else can sell, use, or manufacture it without the permission of the owner of the patent.  Even while it is Patent Pending, the new product or process is protected.  After the patent is issued the owner has exclusive rights to the product or process that has been patented.  To avoid the loss of a great idea, all inventors should apply for a patent as soon as possible.
