Adding More Memory To My Computer

My computer was super slow and it took forever just to boot up. I asked a close friend of mine who owns a computer repair store if he could upgrade my computer. He said sure but I need to tell him what exactly I wanted the computer to do so he could put the best components in it. I told him my major problem was the slowness. He said he was going to add the dimension 8200 memory. That low memory could be the cause of all my computer problems. Once it was install I could see a tremendous change in the desktops speed.
