We Had No Idea Who Was Calling So We Got a CRM

October 20th, 2009

For months, we struggled with what seemed like a simple problem. Our clunky old phones would give us generic Caller ID information and we had all of our clients stored in a spreadsheet. But there was no easy way to find a customer in the file so when they called and we’d spend several minutes searching. Finally, someone suggested that we look into CRM (customer relationship management) software.

We quickly found that there are a lot of different types of Crm software available from companies of all sizes. The features available seemed to run the gambit with packages that focused on nurturing sales leads while others emphasized cross-departmental communication. We eventually narrowed it down to those CRM packages that fit our needs best by living up to the name customer relationship management.

The crm software packages we evaluated in the office were great. Our favorite had built in VOIP so, once we purchased new phones, we were able to click links right in the Crm software to start a phone call with our best clients. Also, when someone called in, a little pop-up came up with a link to their unique page. This gave us quick access to every note, sales order and fact the CRM stored about the customer.

Because of our experience, we would highly recommend that all small and medium-sized businesses invest in customer relationship management software. The improved efficiency will turn your good clients into fans!
